It's interesting to consider how many 'contradictions' and 'opposites' we have in this walk called Christianity.

Here are a few examples:

It's more profitable to give...but the world says grab and hoard up all you can...Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

To get ahead we must go down (on our knees).....Psalm 75:6-7 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

To be exalted we must humble ourselves...Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

To gain more power we must eat less (fasting)...Mark 9:28-29 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

When wronged we must love, forgive and pray for the perpetrator....Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Wow!! No wonder they called us Christians weird and abnormal. It takes the power of God to keep us in trying times and situations. That's why the Bible lets us know that if we are going to walk with God we will be walking contrary to the world.  

This process involves the renewing on the mind Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So we're not weird or abnormal ..... JUST SUPERNATURAL (letting the supernatural power of God work through us!)

So if it seems like you have pushing against the tide, everything seems like an up hill task and you just don't fit in with all the hype and all the 'popular' peer groups..... Chances are you're probably heading in the right direction

Look at it this way: all the pressure and strain your enduring right now is just to build your faith and spiritual muscles to get you fit and into shape for the next level. Cause for every level there is a new devil

So go ahead flex your spiritual muscles ....Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
